The Apartment

So, we've moved into our apartment and it's not the adorable turn-of-the century maison de maître that we had aspired to. While Andy and I had thought we wanted an old place with plenty of character, it turned out we couldn't find something old that was affordable and wasn't falling down around our ears or 1. Had one living room wall dominated by a giant stained glass peacock that lit up or 2. Had rooms as closed in, damp and depressing as a Siberian Prison or 3. Smelled like Andrew the morning after his bachelor party.

Instead, we've got an ultra-modern new place with windows all around and two toilets! (To be clear -- the two toilets aren't positioned anywhere near the windows). The new apartment has taken some adjustment. Firstly, the floors, although wood, don't creak. Secondly, it's warm. I no longer where socks, a t-shirt, flannel pajamas, andoccasionallyy, a tuque, to bed. Unlike our place in Ottawa, the apartment seems able to generate and retain heat... Strange concept.

While the walls of windows are quite, quitee wonderful, it has meant that our neighbours across the street have been treated to more than one flash of freckly-nakedness as Andy or I dash from the bedroom to the bathroom. Whoops.
